2010 Hylton AIA Competition
"Music in Motion"

C.D. Hylton will be hosting the final competition before championships on March 20, 2010. Visiting Guard Units can find local information (hotel information, Gas stations, shopping centers) by clicking on the Local Info  link.

  • Admission prices: Adults $10.00, Students(with ID) $5.00, Children 5 and below FREE

  • Carnations: CD Hylton will be accepting “Pre-Orders” for Carnations as part of our “Flower Gram” fundraiser to be purchased and picked up the day of the event. Please use the attached order form and email it to Ms Flo Bruiser at tbbbr@comcast.net by Wed, 17 March 2010

  • Candy Grams: will be available the day of the event. King Size Candy Bars will be sold outside the Main Gym.

  • Concession Stand: CD Hylton will have a variety of food items (pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers, chick filet, candy, popcorn, soft drinks, water and coffee) via our concession stand for you to enjoy the day of the Event. Concessions will open at 800 AM.

  • Videos: Pro Video Inc will be videotaping the event and selling DVDS of the performances on the spot. To pre-order, please see attached order form.

  • Arrival and Check-in
  • Directors and Units will be dropped off at Entrance #3 for Unit Check In.  Directors will receive a Unit Check- In Packet containing Schedule Information, an Event Day Map, Host POC contact information and 7 wristbands for Roadies/Parents traveling with the Unit.  At the time of check in, the Director will also receive enough wristbands for free entry for the performing unit.   You will also be assigned an Event Day Host, who will ensure you get to your resting area, warm up areas and performance time per the AIA Schedule. Please refer to the Guard map and Percussion Map for location details.

  • Directors need to sign up for Critique during Unit Check In as well.  This will be the only opportunity to sign up and ensure participation in Critique.

  • Following Unit Check In, your assigned Event Host will guide you to the restrooms and auditorium while you wait for your unit “warm up” time.


  • Preparing for Your Performance
  • Auditorium: The Auditorium is the designated waiting place for Performing Units. Please use this time and location to get organized and prepared for your upcoming performance. No Food or Colored/Flavored Beverages are permitted in the Auditorium. Water Only Please.

  • Warming Up: CD Hylton’s Music In Motion will include two warm up areas for Body Warm Up and Equipment Warm Up, as follows:
    1. Body Warm Up will occur on the Auditorium Stage. Your assigned host escort will remind you when its time for Body Warm Up. Please remember, there is no spinning, tossing, etc allowed during Body Warm Up.
    2. Equipment Warm Up will occur in the Auxiliary Gym, next to the Main Gym. This is the only location prior to your performance that you will be able to spin, toss, play music. All other areas are prohibited.  This will be the only opportunity to sign up and ensure participation in Critique.

    After Your Performance
  • Personal Items: CD Hylton is not responsible for belongings and personal items left unattended in the auditorium. Units should remove belongings after their performance is complete.
  • Floor Folding: After performances, floors should immediately be folded in the commons area. Percussion will fold their floor in the Auxiliary Gym.
  • Props & Folding: At the completion of your performance, Unit Props and Floors should be taken out of the building and loaded back into buses and vehicles. CD Hylton is not responsible for unattended equipment, props and/or floors.
  • Critique: Critique will commence immediately following the end of the Unit Performances and prior to the Awards Ceremony. Directors must sign up at the time of unit check in (upon arrival) to ensure a spot and participation in Critique.
  • Awards: Award ceremony times and details will be announced once AIA has finalized the performance schedule. The ceremonies will be a "captain-only" retreat. Trophies will be given out to the top three units in each class.
